This study is exploring the potential of an investigational drug called obexelimab to safely and effectively treat adults with relapsing forms of MS. If you’re between 18 and 60 years old and have been diagnosed with MS, you may be eligible to participate.
The MoonStone Study is a Phase 2 clinical trial designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of obexelimab, a new investigational drug for MS. Unlike some existing treatments that deplete B-cells (a type of immune cell involved in MS), obexelimab works by modulating B-cell activity without completely eliminating them. This unique approach could offer a new way to manage MS symptoms and progression.
The study is open to adults with relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) or active secondary progressive MS (SPMS). Participants will receive either obexelimab or a placebo during the first 12 weeks, followed by an open-label period where everyone receives obexelimab.
To join the MoonStone Study, you must:
Be between 18 and 60 years old.
Have a diagnosis of relapsing MS (RRMS or active SPMS).
Meet additional eligibility criteria, which the study team will discuss with you.
If you’ve experienced at least one relapse in the past year, two relapses in the past two years, or have active lesions on an MRI scan, you may qualify.
Your participation will last approximately 10 months (40 weeks), including screening, treatment, and follow-up visits. Here’s what to expect:
Screening Visit
At least 1 clinic visit for health checks and tests to determine eligibility.
If you qualify, treatment will begin within 4 weeks.
Study Treatment Period (Part A)
Weekly clinic visits for 12 weeks.
You’ll be randomly assigned to receive either obexelimab (67% chance) or a placebo (33% chance).
Study Treatment Period (Part B)
Weekly clinic visits for another 12 weeks.
All participants will receive obexelimab (no placebo).
Follow-Up Period
1 final clinic visit 12 weeks after your last treatment visit.
Throughout the study, you’ll undergo various tests and procedures to monitor your health and the effects of the study drug. These may include:
Health and medication reviews
Questionnaires
Physical and neurological exams
MRI scans
Blood and urine tests
ECG heart tests
Optional lumbar puncture
By joining this study, you’ll have the opportunity to:
Access a cutting-edge investigational treatment for MS.
Contribute to advancing MS research and helping others living with the condition.
Receive close medical monitoring and care from experienced healthcare professionals.
The MoonStone Study is being conducted at two locations in Arizona:
Phoenix, AZ – Center for Neurology and Spine
